Why is it important to market yourself? How can you build your brand online?


How to survive in the deluge of information depends on how we market ourselves differently from others. Even though information technology keeps on developing and replaces many of the works to computer-based systems, we still have a tendency to meet people in person. And, 'I' as ourself can just be a single unique brand that can not be compared with anyone else in the world, so it is important to market ourselves. In addition, by combining the characteristics of the two factors : human and information technology; we can market ourselves using the social media to distinguish ourselves and make us more special. And by using this service, we would be a great opportunity to highlight our strengths.
 
One of the best way to market ourselves is to build my own brand online. To do so, we need to be first aware of the meaning of a brand, which is quite different from the description of a product. When people think of a certain brand, they have a particular image or impression of that product and it is usually created by advertising. It is also same when we build our brand online. So, when we make ourself as a brand, we have to know our ability and focus on the area where we are particularly interested in. Thus, we should produce the contents steadily. Also, to use social media as a effective tool, we should be able to communicate with other social media users interactively. Finally, we need to pay attention to the rule used particularly in online situations, which is called netiquette.
 
Besides, I think branding ourself can be the best marketing strategy in these times of competition.

    Hello, I totally agree with your point of saying that we should combine technology that we are "forced" to use every day with human skills because this is what makes us still more interesting than a random machine. I never really thought about this but yes it is our only way to compete with technology, by associating us to it.

Week 7 ② : Participating in Facebook "California Photography" Group

The second online group I joined is also in Facebook and the name of the group is called "California Photography." In the 'About' section, their description is "Welcome to California Photography to share photographs and memories of our Golden State." There are 6,748 members in this group and I am one of them, including 6 admins and moderators. In this community, members upload their photos that are taken in California. All of the pictures are really fascinating and make me want to grab my camera and visit that places someday! I really think the 'Recommendations' section is useful because the members in the group actually recommends that places by posting a photograph that one has taken of oneself.

Week 8 : Statistics on My Personal Sites

Spring is coming along the way. It's already March and almost getting close to the end of quarter! On the first week of March's assignment, I am going to talk about my statistics on my personal sites I have participated so far. These sites include Facebook, Blog, LinkedIn and Twitter! Let's see one by one. On Facebook, I have posted 2 times in January and 6 times in February, and this post is going to be the first post in March. Currently I have 27 friends. Most of them are Social Media Marketing course classmates but few of them are friends from the Facebook group I joined. Also, I joined one more public group which is "PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games." Statistics are more interesting about my personal blog. Until now, 773 pageviews were made and I have 10 followers. The audience part is the most amazing.
